Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated young inventor Subhendu Kumar Sahu from Hinjili area under Ganjam district here at the State Secretariat on Friday. The CM congratulated him for developing a device which can perform multiple farm operations like tilling soil, sowing seeds and sprinkling pesticides along with other farming activities.
Earlier, Subhendu had been awarded with a bronze medal for the National Child Award for ‘Exceptional Achievement’ from President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan last month on Children’s Day function.
A Class-VIII student of Somapur Upper Primary School in Hinjili, Subhendu had prepared a science project titled ‘Gift for Farmers’ which got selected for the national award. The device invented by him is capable of performing seven different agricultural functions like tilling soil, sowing seeds, etc.
CM Patnaik appreciated his creativity and wished him the best for future and also gifted him a laptop. Subhendu’s father Shantanu Sahu and his teacher and mentor Manjula Sahu were also present on the occasion.
