Central team arrives to trace sheep killers

Bhubaneswar: While the ‘mysterious killers’ of sheep in Niali and several other places are yet to be identified; an expert team of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) arrived here on Friday to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

The two-member team held discussions with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and other officials of the Forest Department.

Official sources said the team would visit Niali and some other areas where sheep have been killed mysteriously to conduct a comprehensive study on the pattern of killings and recommend measures for trapping the predator animals.

“The expert team will conduct on-the-spot study for three-four days in Niali and Bhanjanagar,” said DFO (City Division) Prashant Mishra.
