Bhubaneswar: As many as 130 teachers including seven from Odisha have been suspended by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for miscalculating the marks during evaluation of Class X and Class XII answer scripts.
According to board officials, 45 teachers from Patna, 27 from Dehradun, 14 from Chennai, 11 from Allahabad, seven from Odisha, six from Delhi, two from Guwahati and one from Trivandrum and eight each from Ajmer and Panchkula have been suspended after they were found miscalculating up to 55 marks during re-evaluation of exam papers.
The board has directed its Dehradun office to take immediate action against the teachers by issuing suspension letter to their respective schools, an official of the CBSE said.
“In last two years, the percentage of miscalculation of marks has come down as compared to 2014, 2015 and 2016. The percentage of students applying for verification of their marks in 2014, 2015 and 2016 were 2.31, 2.09 and 2.53 respectively,” the official added.
