Bhubaneswar: CBI top officials including Additional Director Rakesh Asthana, SIT new Joint Director Nabin Singh and Anti-Corruption Joint Director AK Singh visited the CBI regional office here on Wednesday to review the progress of the mega chit fund scams across the state.
The officials were given the guard of honour at the CBI office. A high level meeting was hosted regarding the progress of the probe with the investigating officials from within the state and outside. Asthana discussed the major scams like Seashore, Artha Tattwa and Naba Diganta cases and urged for completing the filing of final charge sheet and also advised to investigate all the influential people associated with the scams.
As per sources, the Supreme Court had fixed a stipulated time period towards the completion of investigation process of 44 major chit fund firms across the nation. But the CBI has failed to complete the process even after requesting for three chances from the Court, mentioning shortage of manpower as a reason. Meanwhile, the apex Court has advised to fasten the process and complete within the specified time.
