The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also nodded to the Odisha Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Rules 2017.
The Fire service rules are divided into 22 sections relating to duties and accountability, responsibility of owners of commercial and residential complexes and enforcement conferred on fire service, said Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
Besides, the Cabinet approved setting up of a Handlooms and Handicrafts Development and Promotion Council to ensure growth of the industry and welfare of artisans.
The proposal of setting up of a council was cleared during the cabinet meeting with an additional proposal of Rs 20 crore to be provided during the current financial year to the council.
“The council’s major purpose would be to assess the impact of various schemes and programmes being implemented for weavers and artisans and advice the government for framing apt policies for the handlooms and handicrafts sectors,” said Padhi.
