Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor SC Jamir today disapproved the BPUT Amendment Bill passed by the State Assembly in its session.
The BPUT bill failed to get Governor’s nod as it has the provision of including Minister of Skill Development and Technical Education as the Pro-Chancellor of the varsity.
It has been mentioned in the Bill that the Minister of Skill Development and Technical Education shall be the pro-chancellor of BPUT and would exercise similar function as conferred to the Chancellor.
According to sources, complete rejection of the Bill is not yet known. The Governor may prescribe required changes in the amendment and then provide his consent over it.
However, if the Bill fails to get Governor’s nod, it will again be tabled in the Assembly for making changes as advised by the Chancellor of Odisha varsities.
