Bhubaneswar: The issue of under construction fly over collapse in Bomikhal area, rocked the Odisha Assembly today as opposition leaders created uproar over the matter in the House compelling Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat to adjourn it for an hour. Later, the Speaker extended the time span till 3 pm today.
On the day, the House witnessed several Congress and BJP members shouting anti-government slogans at the well and creating ruckus demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while he was making a statement in the house over the tragedy.
The CM stated, “I visited the Capital Hospital and AIIMS, Bhubaneswar to enquire about the condition of the injured persons. Assistance of Rupees 5 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of the bereaved family of late Satyabrata Pattnaik. The State Government will bear the entire expenditure for treatment of the injured persons. The condition of all the injured persons is stable.”
“In this connection Capital Hospital UD case no-149 has been registered and enquiry is going on. Besides, Laxmisagar PS case no-284 under section 304, 337/338/34 IPC has been registered against Panda Infra Project (India) Private limited, Bansidhar Praharaj, Deputy Executive Engineer and the Assistant Engineer have been placed under suspension. Further, the concerned Executive Engineer Dukhabandhu Behera has also been suspended for the prima facie lapses. The case is under investigation”, the CM added.
“A high level enquiry by a Committee comprising Chief Engineer, Designs and Chief Engineer, Roads has been ordered which will conduct its inquiry and submit their report within a week. My government will ensure that stringent and exemplary action is taken against all persons responsible for this tragic incident,” he further added.
Moreover, Congress chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati stood on a chair and tried to snatch Speaker’s microphone. Compelled over the stormy scenario, the Speaker adjourned the assembly for an hour and later extended it to 3 pm.
