Brahmagiri: At least 30 people were injured and four sustained critical injuries after bombs were hurled during a pitched group clash between Baghamunda and Sipakuda villages under Brahmagiri police limits here on Tuesday.
According to reports, the group clash in which bombs and bullets were fired ensued due to a longstanding dispute over prawn enclosure (Gheri) and over construction of a jetty on a patch of government land.
The bloody battle started following a heated altercation between two separate groups from Baghamunda and Sipakuda villages early this morning while the construction of the jetty was underway at Kianasi.
As the heated exchange of words turned violent, a group of Sipakuda villagers torched at least 20 boats amd hurled bombs targeting Baghamunda residents. They also fired several rounds of bullets during the attack in which four Baghamunda villagers were critically hurt.
Around 100 bombs were hurled by both the groups during the clash. Meanwhile, police are yet to reach the spot due to the ongoing bombing in the area.
