Bhubaneswar: On the seventh day of their agitation the block grant school and college teachers have warned that if the state government doesn’t pay heed to their demands by Tuesday evening, then the association would call for stoppage of work in schools and colleges across the state.
Under the aegis of Odisha School College United Teachers and Employees’ Association, the teachers have been on an indefinite strike to seek the attention of the government on granting them salary with allowances and other service benefits.
Their demands include equal pay with that of the regular government teachers whose salary is three times more than them and implementation of grant-in-aid system irrespective of categories and abolition of block grant system.
Pradip Mahala, president of Block Grant Teachers’ Association, stated that if the demands are not met, all the employees of block grant schools and colleges would join to intensify the agitation.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan today met and addressed the agitating teachers.
