BJP’s 12-hr bandh demanding NAC status to Rasol hits normal life

12-hr bandh

Dhenkanal: Bus services were hit and normal life disrupted at Rasol in Dhenkanal district on Monday following a 12-hour bandh called by the BJP seeking Notified Area Council (NAC) status for the panchayat.

A large number of vehicles and commuters were seen stranded for long hours as vehicular movement on Cuttack- Sambalpur road was disrupted after protestors staged blockades.

Almost all business establishments, markets, shops and educational institutions remained closed.

The agitators alleged that it has been a long-standing demand of the people for the NAC status to Rasol. However, despite repeated demands, the district administration does not take any step for according NAC status to Rasol, said agitators.

They threatened to intensify the protest, if the demand is not fulfilled at the earliest.

Police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
