Bhubaneswar: In a dramatic revelation, senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra on Sunday lashed at Fire Services Department asking why it filed a complaint against SUM authorities when it itself had granted a Fire Safety Non Objection Certificate (NOC) during 2013.
Speaking on the horrific Sum fire tragedy which has so far claimed 27 lives and critically maimed more than a hundred Mohapatra said, during 2013 the Fire Department issued an NOC on fire safety to the SUM hospital and also notified about it to the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on April 5 the same year.
“A copy of the same can also be found in the possession of SUM administration. Then why did the department make a U turn and heaped all the responsibilities of the fire mishap on the hospital administration only,” Mohapatra said.
“The department gave clearance to the safety norms of the hospital but why has it now filed an FIR against them, he said, adding, “Isn’t it equally answerable for the tragedy! But the department is trying to hide its mistakes by filing the complaint.”
