BJP calls for two hour ‘Chakka Jam’
Bhubaneswar: Demanding an impartial probe into the video tape allegedly featuring Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena , BJP has called for a two-hour ‘Chakka jam’ today in all municipalities and notified area councils (NACs) across the state from 10 am to 12 noon.
The party has demanded for probe into the whole episode including the video clip, death of engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi and Mayor’s alleged role.
The state BJP unit General Secretary Prithiraj Harichandan during a press meet at the party office in the city on Sunday has said that the party would observe chakka jam and halt vehicular movement for two hours from 10 AM to 12 noon on Monday and has also demanded immediate of intervention of the Chief Minister to ensure a probe into the alleged murder and video clip. Further demanding for a forensic examination of the video clip in a central laboratory, he said if the government fails to undertake any step, BJP would intensify their stir.
Earlier on Sunday evening, a large number of BJP party workers staged demonstration in Rajmahal area of the city and later gheraoed the residence of the Mayor.
