BJD’s Mahila wing to stage protest against withdrawal of subsidy on LPG
Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress have decided to oppose the Centre’s decision to withdraw subsidy on LPG in phased manner by announcing agitational programmes.
Describing the Centre’s decision as anti-people, president of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD) Pramila Mallick, minister for planning and convergence and advisor to BMJD Usha Devi and minister of state for handlooms, textiles and handicrafts and vice-president of BMJD Snehangini Chhuria announced that the BMJD would demonstrate in front of the Raj Bhavan on August 4 protesting the phased withdrawal of subsidy on LPG.
Apart from this, demonstrations will be organised in front of the office of all district collectors, offices of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Berhampur and additional district magistrate, Rourkela on August 8 to protest the Centre’s decision, they said.
Criticising the Centre for cheating poor women, the BMJD leaders demanded that GST on LPG cylinders should be waived.
