Bhubaneswar: A day after extending Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) support for NDA’s nominee for Presidential election, Chief Minister (CM) Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said the regional party will continue its fight against Central negligence.
BJD’s support for NDA’s presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind has come in for strong criticism from the Opposition Congress. Besides, BJD’s decision has also been questioned in an editorial in an Odia daily owned and edited by party MP Tathagat Satpathy.
The CM’s response on the Presidential candidate came while replying to questions from mediapersons on the editorial. “Even though the BJD has extended support to NDA’s Presidential candidate, our fight against Central negligence will continue,” he said.
Rejecting the Opposition criticism over BJD’s support, Naveen said, “The NDA candidate is a distinguished Scheduled Caste person. This apart, BJP had supported our (BJD) candidate PA Sangma in the last Presidential election.”
