BJD says no to rally against Centre on Demonitisation

Bhubaneswar: As West Bengal Chief Minister  Mamata Banerjee ramped up her best possible efforts to group a non NDA party coalition to cohesively oppose the Union Government’s demonitisation move and pressurize it to repeal the decision, Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has withdrawn its support towards the decision.

Party spokesperson Pratap Deb briefed media persons here saying that Odisha will not join the chorus against Centre’s move. “We will not meet the President over Union Governmnet’s demonitisation decision,” he said.

Earlier Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has welcomed such a decision terming it as a good weapon to curb black money.

Meanwhile, BJP sources has also pinned its hopes of support on this bold financial reform over Odisha and Bihar. “We do not think they will allow themselves to get dragged into forging an opposition to this drive against black money by merely using the alibi of people’s discomfort.

It is noteworthy to mention here that the success of the demonitisation depends a lot on the state machinery for proper implementation.
