Bhubaneswar: BJD leader Bishnu Charan Das today resigned as Rajya Sabha member and his resignation was accepted as well. The move comes two days after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik named him vice chairman of the State Planning Board.
Das said he has resigned as member of the Rajya Sabha on his own. CM Patnaik had entrusted two responsibilities on him on Saturday. Not only was he made the vice chairman of the planning board, Das was also chosen as the convener of the Dalit cell of BJD organisation. This sudden move of Patnaik had fueled political speculations.
Putting an end to these speculations, Das has resigned from Rajya Sabha keeping the post open for BJD members. The discussion now is regarding who would succeed him as the new upper house MP from the party.
