Mumbai: Sport personalities have of late inspired many a Bollywood biopic. Be it cricketer MS Dhoni, boxer Mary Kom or sprinter Milkha Singh, the inspiring stories of these sports personalities has always made it big in the Indian cinema.
Sprint queen Dutee Chand’s inspiring story is likely to hit the silver screen soon. The makers of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, mainly Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, have approached Dutee’s coach Nagapuri Ramesh for a biopic on Dutee. The movie makers are now in touch with a Bangalore-based sports management company who are negotiating the terms on behalf of Dutee.
Since 2015, Odia athlete Dutee has been training in Hyderabad at the Gachibowli Stadium, close to where Pullela Gopichand trains many of India’s top shuttlers, including PV Sindhu.
Dutee is admired throughout the world for fighting the case against her ban from national and international athletics for testing high in androgen levels. Dutee won the landmark case at CAS, Switzerland.
Notably, in 2016 July a sports biopic of Odisha’s wonder boy Budhia Singh— ‘Budhia Singh- Born to Run’ was produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures had hit the big screens.
