Bhubaneswar: After a three month break, Bhubaneswar welcomed second phase of Raahgiri. The event renamed in Odia as ‘Bhubaneswar Pathautsav’ kicked off here on janpath today with a new slogan ‘Ama Sahara Ama Raasta’ .
The show was flagged off in the presence of important dignitaries like Education Minister Debi Mishra, Culture Minister Ashok Panda, BMC Commissioner, Mayor A N Jena, MP Prasanna Pattsani. Thousands of people thronged the street from Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir Square and enjoyed the celebrations.
City Commissioner Krishan Kumar said this time importance on promoting cycling would be stressed. A smart janpath would be established with an estimated budget of about Rs 75 crore, he said.
Raahgiri which was an all new experience for capital denizens provided some moments of ‘masti’, ‘magic’ for some hours at least on Sunday mornings. After continuing for twenty some odd weeks it was stopped from month of August.
From multifarious child centered events, to awareness on socio-cultural, environmental, humanitarian, and health aspects, the show was somewhat a big hit last time around. Mostly young mass were more attracted but families also took a big part in the celebrations of the event.
