Puri: The Bhopal police arrested an online fraudster from Odisha’s Puri on charges of duping people with different fraudulent schemes promising them attractive returns on their investments.
The accused has been identified as Manoj Banjara of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
As per reports, Manoj had duped people luring them with different fraudulent schemes by promising huge returns. He used to lure people with attractive schemes and make them deposit money in his bank accounts.
A number of complaints were received at the Bhopal Cyber Crime police station in 2017 following which Bhopal police sprung into action.
Acting on a tip-off, a three-member team of Bhopal police raided Manoj’s house in Kakatpur area and arrested him last night.
He had discreetly escaped to Kakatpur and was already running a full time business in Puri, informed police.
“Our team traced him following technical inputs from the cyber cell. He will be interrogated for further leads,” informed SS Solanki, officer in-charge, Cyber Crime police station, Bhopal.
