Berhampur private bus strike: District administration to run ten city buses

Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration has decided to run ten city buses as the private bus association continued its strike for the third day on Tuesday protesting against relocation of Berhampur city bus terminal to Haladipadar.

The decision came after the association decided to continue its protest against the decision taken by the district administrator to relocate the new bus terminal to Haladipadar on the outskirts of the city from July 1.

BDA Commissioner Sambit Rout said “We have decided to run 10 more city buses from Berhampur to various places including Digapahandi, Chikiti, Rambha etc.”

We also have asked the private buses parked at the bus stand to vacate immediately, he added.

Around 628 private passenger buses registered with the Ganjam Private Bus Opeartors’ Association have remained off the road since Sunday. This has affected the commuters from and to Berhampur across the state.
