BDA introduces new EWS housing scheme

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority in association with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation is going to develop EWS houses in  10 slum development projects to have new housing stocks and to create 5,000 more residential units for economically weaker sections.

The public-private partnership (PPP) projects, has already made a plan to have more than 5,000 EWS houses so far but this new initiative will add to that so that more than 10,000 housing stock exclusively for EWS category will be ready very soon.

It can be mentioned here that the State Government has come up with a Policy for Housing for All in Urban Areas, Odisha, in 2015, to promote development of affordable housing units.

However, in these 10 slum projects appropriate models will be considered so that the work is done faster to ensure the poor a roof over their head.

Apart from the PPP housing models, an innovative Public Private Community Participation (PPCP) model will be introduced for the first time in the State to achieve the urban housing dream for the needy, thereby helping to smoothen the process of relocation and rehabilitation.
