New Delhi: Banks across the country will be shut till Monday owing to a long weekend. This may, however, add to the woes of the public already suffering with shortage of cash following demonetisation.
This Saturday being the second of the month is already a bank holiday while Sunday is a regular holiday. Monday has been declared public holiday since December 12 marks the Eid-al- Milad celebrations.
After the government scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes people have been facing cash crunch while the deadline of December 31 to deposit old notes in their accounts is also running out fast. With banks remaining closed from Saturday to Monday, people are sure to face more problems.
After demonetisation long queues have been seen outside all bank branches, ATMs as well as post office across the country.
