Cuttack : Out against all odds the most awaited Balijatra fest is about to kick off from November 14 here along Mahanadi banks.
The festival is scheduled to begin at around 5 PM, with an inaugural ceremony which will be graced by important dignitaries like Education Minister Debi Mishra, Tourism Minister Ashok Panda, Finance Minister Pradeep Amat, Higher Education and Pradeep Panigarhi, Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das along with Cuttack MP, Bhartruhari Mahtab, sources from organizers said.
The historical Bali Jatra begins every year from the full moon day of Odia month of Kartik and continues for week long period. It is a reminiscence of our rich past maritime conquests and glories.
This year however the event faced many hurdles right from the beginning of its announcement notification. Tussle between NGT and District Administration for its clearance, demonitisation has had adverse impacts upon its preparedness leading to disruption in stall and plot bookings but after all odds it is finally set to begin.
Sources said, over three thousand street vendors are likely to take part in the event. Two number of 16 seater mobile toilets along with dust bins at every stalls will be made available to make it a pollution and eco-friendly event.
