New Delhi: A court in Delhi on Saturday remanded an Under Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush to 14 days judicial custody after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a bribery case.
The accused, RK Khatri, Under Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi having the additional charge of Managing Director, Indian Medicine & Pharmaceutical Corporation Ltd was arrested on Friday for demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant.
According to sources, a case was registered against the accused on the allegations of demanding a bribe from the complainant (a C&F agent) for clearing his pending bills and allowing him to continue his work. Subsequently, the CBI laid a trap and apprehended the accused.
Later, searches were conducted at the official & residential premises of the accused which led to the recovery of some incriminating documents.
“The accused was produced today before the Special Judge, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi and remanded to 14 days judicial custody,” a statement issued by CBI said.
