Auto driver killed in bomb attack, land dispute suspected

Nayagarh: In a broad daylight crime, three armed assailants killed a man by hurling bombs at him at Medical Square in Rajsunakhala area in the district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sraban Barik alias Tulu Barik (41) of Balugaon village under Banapur police limits.

Sraban who was residing in Rajsunakhala area over past few years and earned his living by driving auto-rickshaw was sipping tea at a tea stall in the area when 3 masked miscreants hurled bombs at him. Being hit by a bomb, Sraban was killed on the spot this morning.

Sources said he was attacked due to past rivalry over a suspected land dispute. However, the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, police have reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.
