Bhubaneswar: The Special CBI Court here on Saturday sentenced Astha International firm Managing Director Santosh Kisan Sapkale and director CS Chauhan to a five-year imprisonment.
The court also asked them to pay a penalty of worth Rs 15,000 each. It may be noted that the Gujarat-based chit fund firm was alleged to have duped the investors’ money to the tune of Rs 66 crore in Odisha and Rs 500 crore across the country.
After Artha Tatwa group CMD Pradeep Sethi pleaded guilty a week back, Sapkale and Chauhan also confessed of the charges made against them.
Notably, CBI had filed an 80 page chargesheet in April 2016 and named Subhransu Lenka, Santosh Kisan Sapkale and two companies.
