Jakarta: India’s women’s kabaddi team who were the defending champions, settled for silver after being defeated by Iran in the Women’s Team Gold Match on Day 6 of the Asian Games 2018 here on Friday.
In the hard-fought Women’s Team Gold Match Iran earned 27 points, whereas India secured 24 points. India’s women’s team choked against Iran at the Asian Games.
India started brilliantly, taking a lead of 5 points at one stage, but the Iran defense took 3 points in the final few minutes of the first half to close the gap to 13-11. In the second half, Iran’s defense continued to trouble India and did not give leave any space for them get a point.
After a stressful final minute, India gave away three points to see a 27-24 loss against Iran.
India now has a total of 24 medals— 6 gold, 5 silver and 13 bronze.
