Raighar: Around 400 villagers, including women and children, have fallen ill due to food poisoning after consuming food at a wedding feast in Jodajonga DNK village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, sixty of them have been admitted to the Hatabharandi Community Health Centre (CHC), while 40 persons were rushed to the public health centre at Jodenga.
A medical team has left for the village to take stock of the incident.
Reportedly, the villagers fell sick after eating fish curry and rice served at a feast organized by a local resident, Biren Gharani on the occasion of his son’s wedding.
The affected people complained of abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting.
An ASHA worker of the village informed the district headquarters regarding the malaise, following which Nabarangpur Collector deputed a special team of doctors led by ADMO (public health) Choudhury Sovarani Mishra to the village Monday morning.
