Nagpur: BJP MLA Raju Todsam from Arni in Vidarbha, has allegedly been accused of harassing a local contractor for money in Maharashtra. An audio clip, purportedly of a conversation between the contractor, Shivdatta Sharma, and Todsam, has gone viral.
In the audio clip, Todsam is heard asking the contractor to “do everything before his dues are cleared”.
“The next time before your payments get clear, speak to the officers and do as they say, if you want to work in my area,” Todsam is allegedly heard telling the contractor.
In the audio clip, a man, which the complainant claimed is the MLA, is heard asking the contractor to pay Rs 20 lakh to get the bills cleared.
Sharma is initially heard pleading with Todsam to consider his inability to do so since his son has been lying in a state of coma in Pune for the past nine months.
However, Todsam seems unfazed and warns the contractor of raising “quality control” issues and stopping the work.
Following which, the contractor says that he will take up the issue with the Yavatamal minister and BJP leader Madan Yerawar.
Todsam then asks him if he was issuing him a threat, and threatens that he was going to talk to the Chief Minister about it.
Sharma has filed a complaint at a local police station.
According to reports, the Yavatmal police have not lodged an FIR against the MLA so far. “We are verifying it and if necessary such a step would be initiated,” said M Rajkumar, district superintendent of police.
