ANPPF to combat Naxal menace in 5 Odisha districts
Malkangiri: With a view to eliminate Naxal menace in the state an anti-Maoist outfit, Anti Naxal Peoples Peace Force (ANPPF) is going to launch a campaign against the rebels, actively operating in five districts of Odisha.
The ANPPF will form a team of 600 activists from— Malkangiri (200), Koraput (100), Rayagada (100), Kalahandi (100) and Kandhamal (100) — who will launch a campaign to throw out Naxals in their respective districts.
According to sources, the activists under the guidance of ANPPF convenor Bharat Bhusan, would face the rebels operating under Peoples Liberation Gorilla Army (PLGA).
ANPPF activists who will take leadership in their respective zones have been also been selected by the anti-Maoist outfit.
While, A Sisa has been selected to head Malkangiri, Trinath Kumar will lead both Koraput and Rayagada. Besides, B Palasi has been handed over the charge to lead both Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
It is also learnt that the A Bhuyan and P Bijay Naidu will work as state-in-charges of the ANPPF.
“The team has been formed in view of facing the red rebels, especially PLGA. The activists will work towards expediting the halted developmental works in these five Maoist-infested districts of the state,” said ANPPF convenor Bharat Bhusan today.
He added that the main agenda of the teams will be to protect the people from the Maoists and make the state violence-free.
Bhusan further said that the ANPPF activists will be imparted training with traditional weapons to stand against the red rebels.
