West Bengal: A canal bridge in Phansidewa, located near Siliguri in West Bengal collapsed on Friday morning. The bridge was on Pichla River.
According to reports, a truck was crossing the bridge when the bridge caved in. The truck driver sustained critical injuries was rushed to the hospital.
While the truck is still trapped on the collapsed portion of the bridge efforts are in to clear the debris. Vehicular movement between Rakhalganj and Manganj has been disrupted by the incident.
This comes just days after the Majerhat Bridge in South Kolkata collapsed during peak hour traffic. The Majerhat Bridge collapsed on September 4th. This is the second bridge collapse incident in West Bengal in this week.
