Nabarangpur: In yet another case of ambulance failure, a pregnant woman was carried on a cot from Bagabeda village under Jahringa block after the ambulance failed to reach the pick-up location here on Saturday.
The woman, identified as Hunda Santa was carried for about 2 kilometers. However, before she could reach the hospital, she gave birth to a baby boy on the way.
According to sources, the woman developed labour pain around midnight and her family contacted the 102 ambulance service. But due to heavy rain and poor roadways, the ambulance service failed to reach on time.
Following this, her husband Lachana Santa and other villagers carried the woman on a cot but before they could reach near the ambulance stationed a few kilometers away from the village, the woman gave birth to a baby boy.
Hunda and her new-born baby have been admitted to Jharigan Community Health Centre (CHC) and their condition is stated to be normal.
