Mumbai: Akshay Kumar’s latest blockbuster ‘Gold’ has stormed into the 100 crore club on its 13th day of its opening at the box office on Tuesday. With this, the film became the ninth of Akki’s movie to enter the 100 crore club.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to twitter and wrote, “#Gold crosses ₹ 100 cr mark on Day 13… [Week 2] Fri 1.85 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.45 cr. Total: ₹ 100.45 cr. India biz… Akshay Kumar’s ninth film in ₹ 100 cr Club”.<>

The Reema Kagti directorial ‘Gold’ is an Indian historical sports-drama film based upon the national hockey team’s title at the 1948 Summer Olympics. It was produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner.
It stars Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, and Sunny Kaushal.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB 2, Rustom, Airlift and Housefull 3 are some of Akshay’s film to have hit a century at the box office. Apart from Gold, 2018 films like “Padmaavat”, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid, Baaghi 2, Raazi, Race 3 and Sanju have also hit the 100 crore jackpot so far at the box office.
The first Indian film to cross 100 crore worldwide was “Sholay” directed by Ramesh Sippy, and produced by his father G. P. Sippy 1975.
The first Indian film to gross over 100 crore domestically was the Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit starrer Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994).
Later, Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini (2008) became the first Indian film to net over 100 crore domestically, soon after which the term “100 Crore Club” was coined.
