Mumbai: Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and ‘Dhadak’ actress Janhvi Kapoor were awarded with the most prestigious Women in Film and Television India (WIFT) award for their outstanding performance in the entertainment industry.
While Aishwarya was honoured with the inaugural Meryl Streep Award for Excellence, Janhvi was awarded with the WIFT Emerald Award. In the ceremony, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar received the Wyler Award for Excellence in Direction.
In the film, directed by Shashank Khaitan, Janhvi starred opposite Ishaan Khatter. The film was a huge success at the box-office with collections of almost Rs 75 crore. Besides, being a commercial hit, Janhvi’s performance was critically acclaimed.
Janhvi will be next seen in Karan Johar’s historical drama ‘Takht’. The film will feature an ensemble star cast comprising of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor.
