New Delhi: To counter offerings by Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel on Monday announced the launch of its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services in Mumbai.
The service works over 4G network and will offer HD quality voice calls along with faster call set up time. The company plans to roll out VoLTE across the country over the next few months.
To access Airtel VoLTE services, users need to have a 4G enabled handset and an Airtel 4G SIM. Users can call any mobile, landline network using Airtel VoLTE.
The company says that the Airtel VoLTE is enabled by Airtel’s wide 4G network coverage. In case of non-availability of 4G, the VoLTE calls will automatically switch to 3G or 2G network, depending on the network availability in that area. Airtel VoLTE will also allow customers to continue with their data sessions at 4G speeds while the call is in progress.
