Chennai: Hours after the crime branch of the Delhi police registered a case against AIADMK deputy General Secretary and Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dinakaran for allegedly trying to Election Commission (EC) to retrieve the frozen AIADMK symbol, on Monday he denied the charges and also said he had not spoken to any middleman.
As per sources, Dinakaran was allegedly told by Sukesh Chander, the mediator, that the AIADMK party symbol – which was frozen by the Election Commission last month ahead of the RK Nagar bypoll – would go to the Dinakaran-Sasikala camp if he was paid Rs 60 crore.
Delhi Police had earlier arrested a person called S Chandrashekhar with the cash, and seized a BMW and a Mercedes car from him.
The arrest comes amid a bitter fight for the AIADMK symbol between the O Panneerselvam and the VK Sasikala faction of Tamil Nadu’s ruling party.
Notably, the Delhi police have set up a special team comprising sleuths of the inter-state cell of crime branch to probe the high profile case.
