Bhubaneswar: With a move to refund the dupe investors money, the agents of ponzi chit fund firm Agri Gold expressing their grief visited the Directorate Medical examination and Training (DMET) to seek approval to sell their kidneys to refund the investor’s money.
An agent Sudhir Khuntia has said that they have decided to take such a bold step as a result of harassment by the duped investors who had invested their hard earned money with the chit fund firm. He also said that some of the agents have even given up their lives out of despair.
The agents through a letter to the Director of DMET have sought for approval to sell off their body organs and refund back the money of the investors.
As per sources, as many as 40 lakh people have lost their money by investing in Agri Gold group. Of this, 32 lakh people are depositors, while eight lakh people are agents. The blacklisted group collected deposits from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The group has to repay about Rs. 7,000 crore to its depositors.
In Odisha, there were 10 branches with 10,000 agents, who collected around Rs.750 crores from 1.5 lakh customers.
