Bhubaneswar: After the death of one lion a few days back, another African lion died at Nandankanan zoological park (NZP) at Barang on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar today.
The 8-year-old male lion was undergoing treatment at Nandankanan hospital after he fell sick due to some infection.
The death of two lions has raised concern among the Nandankanan authorities. With the death of the animals, the number of lions have come down to 12 at the lion safari of the zoo.
According to sources, lion survives 18 to 20 years. Earlier, four lions were brought from Israel after the lion population started decreasing at the zoo.
“The 8-year-old lion had fallen sick on July 10. The actual cause of the death will be ascertained after the postmortem reports,” said Nandankanan authorities.
