ACCSL Ex-secy held for misappropriation of public money
Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday arrested former secretary of Adarsha Consumer Co-operative Society Ltd (ACCSL) Rourkela in connection with misappropriating public money to the tune of Rs 12 crore.
The accused was identified as Sarat Kumar Senapati (56). He was posted as secretary of ACCSL from 1996 to 2003.
A case was filed by Bymokesh Panda of Sambalpur against eight persons including ACCSL former president BK Padhi, former secretary Sarat Kumar Senapati and others in connection of cheating and misappropriating the money of many retired persons.
As per complaint, Senapati along with others had induced Bymokesh Panda to invest money with ACCSL on the pretext of high rate of interest. Thereafter, they had misappropriated the amount on different pretexts.
A case was registered under relevant Sections of the IPC and the accused has been forwarded to the OPID Court, Sambalpur today. Further investigation is underway, said the police
Earlier, accused Bijay Kumar Padhi, was arrested on August 3 and forwarded to Sambalpur OPID Court .
