Cyclonic Circulations Over BOB To Trigger Heavy Rainfall In Odisha In Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal is most likely to trigger torrential rain in most parts of the State in the next 24 hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the IMD, the eastern part of the monsoon trough continues to pass through Gorakhpur, Muzzafarpur, Shanti Niketan, Haldia and to the north-east Bay of Bengal, while the cyclonic circulation lies over west-central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast and another cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha and neighbourhood persists.

Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the south and north coastal and north interior districts in the next 24 hours. Apart from this, there will be thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places, said the IMD.

In view of the heavy rainfall, yellow warnings have been sounded for the following districts:

Day 1: August 14
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Deogarh.

Day 2: August 15
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda and Nabarangpur.

Day 3: August 16
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Boudh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Balasore and Angul.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam and Gajapati.
