Changwon: Ankur Mittal clinched men’s double trap gold medal in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championship in Changwon, South Korea on Saturday.
Ankur Mittal became the first Indian to win gold in double trap at the Shooting World Championship after he scored 140.
The shooters performed a shoot off as all the three participants ended with a score of 140.
China’s Yiyang Yang won silver with an identical score. Slovakia’s Hubert Andrzej Olejnik won bronze after being the first shooter to miss in the shoot-off.
Ankur is only the second Indian after Manavjit Singh Sandhu to clinch gold in a shotgun event at the World Championships.
Ankur also won the team bronze along with – Md Asab and Shardul Vihaan. The team’s total tally points were 409. While China earned 410 points to win silver, Italy scored 411 and won the gold.
