Jakarta: India’s 4x400m women’s relay team comprising Hima Das, MR Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad and Vismaya Koroth with a superlative display of teamwork clinched gold medal in the Asian Games here on Thursday. This was India’s fifth gold medal in a row in the women’s 4x400m relay.
The women’s relay team added 13th gold for India in the 2018 Asian Games after winning the 4x400m relay with a timing of 3:28.72.
India’s women were way ahead of competition. Hima was the first lead and that moved paid off she started off at blistering pace and the others maintained the lead.
Shortly after, the Indian men’s team of Kunhu Muhammed Puthanpurakkal, Dharun Ayyasamy, Muhammed Anas Yahiya and Arokia Rajiv won silver with a timing of 3:01.85 minutes.
Earlier today, Jinson Johnson won gold in the men’s 1500m race.
