Bhubaneswar: The 7th Margi utsav, an Odissi dance festival was inaugurated here at Rabindra Mandap on Wednesday, with an objective of showcasing the heritage of the traditional dance form.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed some memorable performances by legendary dancers. On the first day, the programme kicked off with a solo Odissi recital by Manoranjan Pradhan. He presented the Mangalacharan form through which the artiste depicted the story of Radha and Krishna.
In a separate performance, Bandita Ghosal mesmerized the audience with a spectacular solo performance.In the duet performance Saroj Kumar Sahu and Subhadra Das presented the Ganesh Vandana and dancers from Sriradha Kalakunja performed in a dance group. The Ganesh Vandana performed by the artist duo presented the story of Lord Ganesha. In the group dance the relationship between devotees and God was depicted.
Among others present during the occasion were Director of Cultural Department Amarendra Pattnaik, Revenue Board former member Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Odissi Dancer and Padmasree recipient Minati Mishra and Nrutyashala Director Ashok Kumar Goshal.
