Bhubaneswar: The State will be funded with Rs. 7,203 crore by coming March next year for the disbursement of small loans to the poor, youth and women entrepreneurs across the rural areas of the state under the Prime Minister MUDRA Yojana, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said on Tuesday while addressing a press meet here.
He also said that out of the set target this year, only 40 percent has been disbursed so far and has also highlighted the poor performance of the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Regional Rural Banks(RRBs) as compared to Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) towards disbursement of small loans under the scheme. He further advised the banks to take immediate measures to update their websites with all the monetary related affairs in Odia language.
As per the survey report, while the districts like Khurda, Ganjam, Cuttack, Puri and Mayurbhanj are seen to utilize the scheme, the Union Minister has asked the banks to undertake required action to make the scheme reach the other financially weak districts like, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
