Ganjam: At least five persons were arrested on Monday for their alleged involvement in the murder of a liquor salesman named Bijay Dakua, who was found dead on October 4 in Jagdalpur village under Berhampur Sadar police limits in Ganjam district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Pintu Das (21), Santosh Das (20), Megha Das (20), Pintu Das (20) and Badal Das (21).
The police have seized a cash amount of Rs 15000 that was stolen from Dakua and also retrieved the deceased’s cell phone from their possession.
All the five accused will be forwarded to court soon, said the police.
According to reports, the incident took place when the five accused insisted Dakua to serve them liquor for free to which the latter refused. Following this, the miscreants robbed the money from Dakua and hacked him to death.
The locals found Dakua’s body on the road, the next day on October 4.
