Bhubaneswar: The Japanese Encephalitis (JE) virus claimed another life today in Malkangiri while three children had died in the last two days. The death toll has reached 58 in less than two months as per health department. A six member central fact finding team is on a visit to Palakonda village in the district where seven children had died of JE. While the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital claims to have discharged 127 children after successful treatment two children discharged from the hospital died later.
The two children who died after being discharged from the district headquarters hospital include five year old Rina Koyam of Bajaguda village and three year old Ganesh Bisoi of Chakrimajhiguda village.
In the last 43 days as many as 188 children were admitted to the headquarters hospital of which four are undergoing treatment now.
