Sambalpur: Police have arrested over 40 leaders of the BJP and the Congress, including ex-MLA Jaynarayan Mishra ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Sambalpur today.
Local BJP leaders with women activists took out a rally in the town holding black badges and shouting anti-government slogans protesting the preventive arrest this morning.
32 platoons of police force have been deployed in the city to prevent any untoward incident during the CM’s visit.
Naveen is scheduled to visit Sambalpur to inaugurate various developmental projects, including the state’s second planetarium at Burla and a science park.
Patnaik would also attend an event to be organized by Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) including flagging off 10 new city buses here.
