Balasore: Four engineering students were arrested from Khantapada police limits in Balasore district today on charges of stealing batteries from cell phone towers. 24 mobile tower batteries, two motorcycles and two toy guns were seized from their possession.
The accused were identified as Sanjeeb Kumar Sahu, Tanmay Kumar Bhuyan, Biswajit Panigrahi and Harekrushna Barik. While Tanmay, Biswajit and Harekrushna are currently pursuing engineering, Sanjeeb is a dropout, police said.
Acting on reliable inputs and repeated complaints of mobile tower batteries theft Khantapada police apprehended the accused youths on National Highway when they were en-route Balasore today morning.
Khantapada inspector in-charge informed that the accused were forwarded to court after interrogations revealed their involvement in the series thefts.
