Balasore: A joint team of Balasore Vigilance, Chandipur Forest Range and Simulia Police officials raided a saw mill operating illegally in Chudunga village under Simulia Police Station in Balasore district this morning and seized timbers along with wood cutting instruments worth Rs 5 lakh.
The raid was conducted following an order for the same by Balasore Vigilance SP.
The officials examined the documents of the mill and sealed it after seizing the machinery.
Three persons have been held following the illegal functioning of the saw mill.
“Timbers, logs and wood cutting machinery worth over Rs 10 lakh have been seized during the raid. The same mill had been sealed earlier but the owner reopened it without permission from the concerned authorities a few days ago,” said Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Forest Range Officer, Chandipur.
