Bhubaneswar: On a move to celebrate the International Yoga Day on June 21, the Odisha Yoga Mahotsav will be held here from March 24 to 26.
The Union Ministry of Ayush in association with the Art of Living has planned to organize a series of three-day Yoga Utsavs across various State capitals to take yoga to the masses.
The Department of Yogic Science at the Sri Sri University, founded by Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, will be hosting the Odisha Yoga Mahotsav at Janata Maidan here in the city.
The fun-filled festival will showcase the multifaceted discipline of yoga through dance, music and food, apart from yoga and meditation.
Several organisations including the Art of Living, the Brahmakumaris, the Patanjali Yog Peeth, the Chinmaya Mission, the North Odisha University, the KB College and the AYOS will be taking seminars, yoga, pranayama and meditation sessions at the Yog Mahotsav.
The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department (SSEPD) of the Odisha Government has planned to take yoga to the elderly, the differently abled, the transgender community and those battling addictions.
The event will feature several interesting sessions such as ‘Yoga for addicts,’ ‘Yoga beyond gender’ and ‘Yoga for management of stress among adolescents.’
